The clock is ticking, and the landscapes at these unique destinations are changing by the minute – environmentally and socially.
Here are 3 places to visit for your next trip – and it had better be soon – before it’s too late.
Patagonia is hands-down THE perfect destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Hike through valleys and canyons or ice-trek through the lustrous snow-covered mountain ranges; explore the pristine diamond blue waters on kayak or canoe.
Wildlife is rich and abundant as well, from penguins to pink flamingoes to species indigenous to the land such as guanacos, a species of llama.
But get there fast – 90% of the glaciers shrink annually due to global warming. In fact, studies show that glaciers in Patagonia are receding at a faster rate than anywhere else on Earth.
There’s no better proof of a city’s splendor than a good movie set there – that’s why Venice has been the setting for many a movie, from James Bond’s Casino Royale to romance films like The Tourist.
But it’s no secret that the city is sinking, and so are our hearts. Unless you’re a stilt-walking pro, you’ll probably want to visit soon to avoid even more frequent floods, and to appreciate the city in its full glory.
This charming ancient city that feels even older than time itself is home to more than 2,000 temples and pagodas.
Explore this wonderland where majestic ruins and religious structures stretch out into forever; visit the rural villages for a taste (quite literally – you need to try their native delicacies!) of local life as well.
Tourism to Bagan wasn’t possible until recently when the travel boycott was finally lifted, but that’s also why the landscape is changing so rapidly. This almost hauntingly tranquil sanctuary will soon see more tourist buses and selfie sticks, so get there before the rest do!
