Formerly an army barracks, the tranquil hideaway that is Dempsey Hill is now a well-loved lifestyle destination for locals and expats alike.
And for good reason – it’s just at the edge of the heart of town, and it’s filled with gourmet offerings, antique shops, art galleries and more.
Fun fact: Woody Antique House was one of the first stores to call Dempsey Hill home – even before there were any restaurants in the area. Here, find antique Chinese furniture, a selection of recycled teak pieces, Indian vintage collections and more; you can even opt for furniture customisation.

Dempsey Hill may be known as an expat enclave, but that’s not to say you can’t get some uniquely Singaporean flavour here. Case in point: Jumbo Seafood’s iconic Chilli Crab, the fresh crustacean coated in a luscious, sweet-spicy gravy thickened with ribbons of egg.

Every dish here is equally parts culinary genius and eco-minded. Ingredients used in the dishes are grown right there in their backyard farm, or sourced within the region. Menu faves include the 48-hour Barolo Braised Oxtail Strozzapreti and the Steak Tartare; the desserts are no afterthought, well-balanced and palate-cleansing even for those without a sweet tooth.
