Director of business development and communications at luxe brand TWG Tea, Maranda Barnes co-founded the brand in 2007 with husband, Taha Bouqdib, and is currently working on the TWG Tea Institute, a new digital platform and a private membership programme that will be rolled out in 2018.
The Chicago native lived in Florence, Italy, for 14 years, before moving to the Red Dot in 2007, and has a second home in Morocco. “I love Singapore’s mix of East and West, contemporary and traditional,” she says.
Maranda says she keeps her day-to-day outfits simple. To dress up a look, she puts on her Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch and a pair of stilettos.
When Maranda and her 14-year-old son need a beach fix, they bike from Parkland Green to Changi – “with a stopover at a local hawker stall for chicken satay and lime juice!” she says.
While she loves her SG home’s contemporary look, she also treasures antiques. Her favourite? “A beautiful Emir teapot that reminds me of our home in Morocco.”
