Want a good cup of Joe with cats roaming around?
First, let me state for the record, I am not a pet person. I know, I know, not something I like to freely admit for fear of the “you monster” looks it can often elicit. Blame my parents.
My kids, who would desperately love a furry friend, will one day say the same. Lucky for me, I can satisfy their need to pet, play, and laugh at the engaging creatures half their size at the surprising number of pet cafes in Singapore. Try one of these catastic cafes around town.
Started by self-proclaimed foodies, the Cat Cafe not only offers a respite to play with rescued felines, but also serves a great cup of coffee and tasty pastries. There’s juice for kids (no kids under 6) too. But beware, you might leave promising to adopt a “furr-baby” of your own. $16 per entry (with a complimentary soft drink). Visit http://thecatcafe.sg for more info.

The name is Japanese for ‘cat garden’ as owners Sam and Sue were inspired by the cat cafes in Japan and wanted to bring the concept to Singapore. Sip on coffee, tea or a smoothie while getting a feline fix in a clean and spacious environment. $12 for one hour, no kids under 7, and make a reservation on weekends and public holidays. Visit www.catcafe.com.sg for more info.

With a cute Facebook page run by their resident cats, Meomi Cat Cafe is one more spot where you sit down with a cuppa, a cake and a cat for a pet-tacular afternoon. Children must be above 6 years old with adult supervision. $13 for the first hour (with a complimentary drink) and $5 for subsequent half hour. Visit www.facebook.com/meomicatcafe for more info.
