In desperate need of a quick holiday break but don’t have the time or money for a long holiday overseas? Singapore’s tranquil islands can be your next quick weekend getaway instead! Here are 7 charming and idyllic islands for you to explore:
1. Kusu Island
The island is full of historic sacred sites that are open all year round. Kusu Island means Tortoise Island in Chinese, so expect to see hundreds of tortoises at the tortoise sanctuary and shelter on the island!
2. Sisters' Islands
The very first Marine Park in Singapore’s history, the Sisters’ Islands have plenty of activities to keep you occupied. Take a dive and discover the marine life around the island, or sign up for a free guided tour where you and your family can learn more about marine animals.
3. St John's Island
A few kilometres south of Singapore, St John’s Island is the perfect place for a relaxed day out with the family. The island is also a link to other islands, so expect to find yourself spending the entire day here!
4. Coney Island Park
While Coney Island is not offshore like the other islands in this list, it is still a getaway from the city. There’s plenty of activities you can take delight in, from bird-watching to bike-riding. Embrace nature on the island!
5. Pulau Ubin
Most likely the most popular offshore island in Singapore right after Sentosa, Pulau Ubin is perfect for those looking for a little adventure. Cycle through the island and take a look at the marine wildlife, or book a kayaking tour!
6. Pulau Hantu
Snorkel and dive your day away at Pulau Hantu. The island’s calm waters and rich coral reefs have made the island increasingly popular amongst divers. You can camp overnight at the island as well, by obtaining a permit!
7. Lazarus Island
If you’re looking for someplace akin to Maldives with its clear blue waters and white sandy beaches, Lazarus Island is your best bet. Located within St John’s Island, the island has a secret, hidden beach where you can have a relaxing, lazy day away from the city.
