It’s not really a “Happy New Year!” without The Finder‘s annual Directory.
As Singapore’s longest-running publication for expats, we know a thing or two about helping newcomers settle into SG life (after all, The Finder was started by two recently arrived expat friends way back in 1993!). And, we pride ourselves on our insider knowledge that even long-timers on the Red Dot and “global local” Singaporeans seek out.
Here’s what’s inside this 2019 edition of the must-have guide, chock full of our “Best of Singapore” business listings.
Kicking off the Directory, Editor-in-Chief Sara Lyle Bow and Publisher Eileen Chia welcome everyone to this year’s essential guide to living well in Singapore. And, yes, they did wear “Finder green”. Don’t judge!
You can also “Meet the Collaborators”, the talented expat-Singaporean pair responsible for creating a one-of-a-kind souvenir for all those living in, or leaving, Singapore. See their creation on the Directory cover, and learn more about them, below.
Want to know what the Lion City’s nabes were like “Back in the Day” vs. what they’re “Known for Today”? This compact guide will reveal all! Use it to help you figure out where to live, work or just hang out during your free time.
While you’re at it, don’t miss our extensive online collection of “A Day Out” neighbourhood guides here.
For expats with kids, school choice can factor into many key decisions: where to live, how to budget their money and, most importantly, what’s best for their children’s well-being and future.
Hear from fellow foreigners about how they picked their kids’ schools. Bonus: You can read about many of SG’s top international schools throughout the Directory.
Moved here without knowing a soul? Want to expand your SG social circle? Either way, we’ve got you covered! In just two pages, we offer up 20 ways and places to meet new people around the Red Dot. #yourewelcome
Last year, The Finder celebrated “25 Years of Success“, having begun as a free publication to share trusted business listings. Some things never change.
Looking for a good service to fix that thingamabob, or a place to get your whositswhatsits looked at? Just crack open our annual Directory or search our online version, which is available 24-7 on your mobile devices.
What really sets The Finder apart from its expat-focused competitors: We’re part of SPH Magazines, one division in Singapore’s most successful media company, Singapore Press Holdings. As a result, we can curate well-researched content with Singaporean insights, yet through an expat perspective. So, you get the best of both worlds!
In this Directory, we are delighted to share the “secrets” of six colleagues who work on some of SG’s most beloved magazine brands. Check out the entire story here.
About the Directory 2019 Cover Collaboration
For a second year, The Finder has collaborated with creative talents in Singapore to design an eye-catching cover and bring you their compelling stories. (Find out about the popular expat artist who contributed to our 2018 edition here.)
For Directory 2019, we featured Scribolo’s Giant Colouring Poster of Singapore, which was a labour of love of between collaborators Nathalie Delbecq Ferlet and Ziyue Chen – an entrepreneurial French mother of two and newlywed Singaporean artist-illustrator, respectively. Watch this video we shot with the charming duo, and read more about how they found each other and created Singapore’s original giant poster together.
Just FYI, you can download each issue of The Finder for free via the free SPH Magazines app (on Apple iTunes or Google Play) or on Magzter.com, or pick up the print edition at 400 outlets around the island.
