Since 1991, Overseas Family School has sought to provide a happy and safe environment for children to learn in. It offers a research-based International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) to meet the developmental needs of students aged 2 to 5 years.
And, its play-based approach supports key areas of learning through holistic enquiry, while covering personal, social and emotional development.
With a diverse student, parent and teacher population, Overseas Family School sets out to develop internationally minded individuals. The school provides its students with unique opportunities to play, work and interact with other children from different countries and cultures. To promote inclusivity, the school hosts annual events like a Global Picnic and United Nations Day, and celebrates various major cultural festivals throughout the year.
Instead of relying solely on learning outcomes – or students’ scores at the end of a course, Overseas Family School focuses on capturing the child’s natural curiosity through its rich, engaging IEYC Units of Learning. Likewise, it aims to balance child-initiated inquiry with gentle teacher scaffolding within a caring and supportive environment.
Overseas Family School’s team of dedicated teachers are extensively trained in meeting the needs of young children. Its team teaching model features one lead teacher and two assistant teachers in each Pre-Kindergarten class and two lead teachers in each Kindergarten class.
Overseas Family School has a range of specialist lessons in music, physical education and languages. As part of the school’s Intellectual Development Program, Kindergarten 2 students are introduced to chess and coding to develop strategic thinking, too!
The school also has after-school Enrichment Program for Kindergarten 1 and Kindergarten 2 students, who can enjoy weekly classes where they learn new skills such as clay making, ballet, creative arts and more.
Overseas Family School invites all parents to partner in their child’s learning. Parents can volunteer to assist in the school’s specialist lessons, accompany the children on field trips or share their expertise through parent presentations.
