GESS has students of more than 65 nationalities, from the age of 18 months (Toddler Programme) to 18 years (High School).
The school offers students the choice between two curricula: International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum taught in English, and the German curriculum. GESS prides itself on being a non-selective school that gives all students an equal opportunity to receive quality education. It has one of the newest purpose-built international school campuses (it opened in August 2018) in Singapore.
As a school with strong European foundations, GESS believes in the celebration of respect, openness and inclusiveness. It’s one of the few international schools in Singapore that has more than 10 years of experience in offering the full range of IB programmes, from its Primary Years Programme to the IB Diploma. Its students have repeatedly received IB and Germany’s Abitur scores above world average.
The school is accredited by the Council of International Schools, which enables its graduates to be competitive applicants to U.S. universities. GESS is also the only school outside of Europe to offer the esteemed Junior Engineer Academy programme for students to explore the field of engineering.
GESS is a not-for-profit, community school where parents play a huge part in the school, serving on the Board of Governors as well as in some of the school’s committees. GESS maintains very strong ties with the local Singaporean community by conducting frequent exchanges with local schools and through other initiatives.
“What we appreciate about GESS is that it is not solely centred on academics. GESS offers a holistic programme that truly develops children’s autonomy and critical thinking. Children not only attend weekly language, arts, sports, music and cooking lessons, but also celebrate most Asian and European festivals and national days. I have seen incredible changes in my daughters since enrolling. Like most kids of their age, they used to have difficulties sharing, they would not always listen, or would easily take a backseat when not in their comfort zone. They are now completely different persons!” – Charlotte Guerry, mother of 2 Pre-School Children
