Here’s our pick of preschools that offer academic development and lots of play.
Ease your child into independent learning in school by enrolling him or her into Gymboree Play & Music’s fun Preschool Steps programme. The parent-child class helps your child to discover his or her capacity for problem-solving, friendship, empathy, communication and more. As your child gains more confidence and is ready to stand on his or her own during play sessions, parents will be encouraged to enjoy their free time in the lobby or grab a hot cup of java.
Preschool Steps offers activities such as Tinker Time, where children hone their motor skills with sound puzzles, blocks and sorting games, Story Time – actively playing out a story together – and Circle Fun, where each child is engaged with playful movements. These activities teach social skills, early literacy, cooperation, listening skills and following directions.
Gymboree will also open up a School Skills class this year. The class is designed to help your child build the social and intellectual skills needed for school and is a supplement to your child’s preschool experience. Find out more about Gymboree by attending its Music Open House from March 5 to 21, or try out a Holiday programme, happening from March 12 to 20.
