Dulwich College (Singapore) opened its state-of-the-art campus in August 2014.
The College is an academically selective, co-educational day school that follows a British curriculum enhanced for international students. Its holistic education is complemented by extensive enrichment and cocurricular programmes. It offers a dual-language programme in English and Mandarin for early years students plus daily Mandarin classes through Junior School.
As part of the Dulwich College International family of 11 schools, it is able to leverage resources which enable them to collaborate on joint events and develop internal and external relationships. These include a wide variety of visiting speakers and a Diversity Series of visiting artists, musicians, dancers and actors, that expose students and staff to a rich choice of experiences, and help them forge lifetime connections.
Dulwich’s dual-language approach is designed to develop fluent English and Mandarin speakers in its DUCKS programme. All students are taught by a native English-speaking teacher, supported by an assistant teacher who speaks Mandarin as a first language, giving students an added advantage in language proficiency.
All students in DUCKS attend weekly dedicated lessons in music, PE, drama and library, with these lessons taught by Early Years teachers who are specialists in each of their respective disciplines.
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) courses are taught over three years, rather than two years. This allows students to explore curriculum topics and their individual interests in more depth, and acts as an excellent introduction to the broader IB curriculum.
“Our three years as a Dulwich family have given us confident, eager and happy girls! We love that Dulwich has given our daughters a thirst to learn through enquiry-based programmes along with amazing co-curricular choices; Jemima enjoys her swimming and music classes while Penelope has developed a passion for public speaking as well as leadership skills. With a Mandarin-speaking teacher working alongside an English-speaking teacher, their conversational Mandarin amazes me, and this will benefit them greatly in their futures.” – Kelly and Andrew Woolcock (not shown), parents of Penelope, Year 2, Jemima, Reception and Heidi
