One of Southeast Asia’s leading British international schools, Dover Court International School (DCIS) prioritises a broad, differentiated and balanced programme within the framework of the English national Curriculum.
It caters to students from Nursery to Year 13, and is part of Nord Anglia Education (NAE), a global network of 66 premium schools. As such, DCIS students benefit from unique collaborations with the likes of Juilliard, MIT and UNICEF, as well as the NAE Global Campus where the students here can learn together with the its 66,000 students worldwide.
Set on a spacious 12-acre campus, the school’s extensive outdoor space is lush and designed to nurture the potential of students of all abilities. In August 2019, DCIS opened a new purpose-built secondary building, which features specialist suites for science, drama, music, art and design technology modules.
All-round development is the main goal at DCIS, and its Department of Supportive Education ensures an environment where students can flourish. Likewise, non-English speakers find a friendly space to develop their language skills, as DCIS offers support through its English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme for students up to Year 9. Their levels of English proficiency is measured by using assessments that link to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference For Languages) so that the school can best meet the needs of each and every student.
Not only does its Sixth Form offer students an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma programme – come August 2020 – it will also offer a new BTEC International Level 2 Diploma in Business (subject to CPE approval). This two year post-16 vocational qualification, offered in Years 12 and 13, will be a full-time, two-year programme of study, that will provide students with an array of skills to eventually join the working world.
“On our first visit to DCIS, we were struck by its smaller, homelyenvironment and the smiling faces around the school. When my son recently told me that he wants to live at school, I knew we’d made the right choice! The children are offered so many incredible development opportunities, both through the curriculum and extra-curricular activities, which include music, dance, sport and value-based projects that encourage kindness for the planet and each other.” – Gemma Byrne, mother of Stevie, Year 2, and Samson, Reception
