Certified by the French Ministry of Education, the International French School (Singapore) (IFS) – formerly known as Lycée Français de Singapour – delivers an affordable, premium multilingual education for international students aged 2 to 18.
As a member of the world’s largest global network of international schools, the AEFE, it provides a hassle-free, transferrable programme to its 3,000 students and 67 nationalities.
IFS’s distinctive bilingual and multilingual approach to education puts its students at a considerable advantage compared with their non-bilingual peers. Focused and structured by the French National Curriculum, an IFS education stresses language acquisition and proficiency, providing graduates with a head start in life. Through specific French language programmes, IFS seeks to integrate non-French speaking families while at the same time promote the practice of English in an international context.
IFS offers the French Baccalauréat or Bac, an internationally recognised qualification that enables students to study at the best universities and schools in France, Canada, the U.K., the U.S. and throughout the rest of the world.
The French education system from Kindergarten to the Bac provides students the opportunity to gain an education in at least two languages in a multicultural atmosphere. This makes French-educated students highly sought after by higher education institutions as these students are encouraged to think independently and effectively, and be driven in their learning through this structured programme.
IFS is open to all nationalities, including those families who are not native French speakers. The annual fees are kept low on purpose, starting at just over $17,000 a year for its Kindergarten programme.
“A few months ago, my daughter started at IFS in Primary 1 – not speaking a word of French – and she’s absolutely loving it! Myra has transitioned very well. The academics and strong language support are balanced out with plenty of playtime and cultural interactions. She comes home tired but happy and full of stories. As a mother, I couldn’t have asked for more!” – Maitri Marks, mother (not shown) of Myra, 7
