Nestled in a green belt on once verdant farmland in Yio Chu Kang, The Grange Institution offers a unique natural environment along with a mix of Cambridge International Primary Curriculum and Australian Curriculum.
Intentionally small with a capacity of 168 students, the school provides an exclusive but enriching learning experience for all. With an innovative approach integrating the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals within the curriculum, the teachers deliver a unique learning experience that benefits the environment.
Students learn through six transdisciplinary Units of Inquiry. Presented in themes, the units incorporate challenges that are global and relatable. They also promote curiosity through an inquiry-based approach learning.
Modelled on the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, it teaches essential life skills in a fun, engaging and hands-on way, as students learn about food, education and environmentally sustainable practices and lifestyles.
The project is designed to nurture the students’ creativity and take their learning beyond the traditional contrast of a classroom setting. Students put together what they learn in Music, Visual Arts and Units of Inquiry to share a showcase of their learning journey.
In partnership with JACPA – one of the largest sports academies for children in Japn – the core of this programme is the acquisition of movement skills and concepts to enable students to participate in a range of physical activities.
“I remember my first visit with my daugther. She was really excited going through the library and art studio. Since she started school, she has showed more interest in reading, become more confident and improved in her speaking.” – Dima Abbas, mother to Rein, 6 and Honey, 4
