Maintaining a relationship is hard work and takes a lot of effort. However, when you are a celebrity, this becomes instantly harder. Between crazy work schedules, having the eyes of the world on you and rumours constantly spreading, it can be hard to maintain a relationship with that special someone.
This year, the world has watched as huge names in the industry have called it quits with their significant others. And no matter if their relationship was four days old or spanned 25 years, we know it has got to hurt.

American radio personality and television host, Ryan Seacrest, split from his girlfriend, Shayna Taylor in February this year. The couple, who dated for three years, first met through friends in 2013. They started dating shortly after but then broke up in late 2014.
However, the couple decided to try again shortly after and got back together. They have now decided to part ways amicably.
In June this year, it was announced that Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk had decided to split after spending four years together. This came amid suspicions of a breakup as the couple has not been seen together since February.
The pair, who have been notable very private about their relationship, have a two year old daughter, Lea, together. They are reportedly parting on good terms and are keen to remain amicable as they share custody of their daughter.
Actress Brie Larson and actor and musician Alex Greenwald have announced that they have broken off their engagement. The couple dated for three years and then got engaged in 2016. While the pair have been relatively private about heir relationship, Brie did call him her best friend and ‘person’ in an interview from 2016.
The couple are reportedly still close despite the split.
If you thought Kim Kardashian’s 72 day long marriage to Kris Humphries was short, take a look at Nicolas Cage and Erika Koike’s marriage. In what was allegedly a drunken night’s decision, Nicolas and Erika decided to tie the knot in a surprise Las Vegas wedding in March.
The pair lasted four days before Nicolas decided to file for an annulment of the marriage. The actor claimed that he was too intoxicated to understand what he was really doing and that the marriage should be void as such.
However, Erika, who was Nicholas’s fourth wife, felt that she was humiliated as a result of the annulment and has now requested for spousal support. She claims that she missed out on career opportunities as a result of the couple’s short relationship.
In April this year, daytime talkshow host Wendy Williams filed for divorce from her husband, Kevin Hunter, after 22 years of marriage. Wendy was allegedly unhappy with rumours of him cheating and decided to part ways.
A few weeks following the announcement, their son, Hunter Jr. was arrested after getting into a fight with Kevin. He was later released and the matter will be handled privately in family court.
This year, it was announced that Adele and her husband, Simon Konecki had separated. The couple has been together for seven years and have a son Angelo, together.
They reportedly felt that the marriage was no longer working and decided to part ways amicably. The pair plan to continue to raise their son together.
At this year’s Grammy awards, fans noticed that Lady Gaga was not wearing her engagement ring. The singer, who won an award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance also did not thank her fiancee in her speech. Shortly after, it was announced that both Gaga and Christian Carino had split up.
The couple were first confirmed to be dating in February 2017.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know that this year, Jeff Bezo, the founder of Amazon, and Mackenzie Bezos, a novelist, got divorced. This wouldn’t be entirely notable if the divorce didn’t propel Mackenzie up to being the third-richest woman in the world.
Considering her stock in Amazon that she co-owns with Jeff, Mackenzie left her marriage with a stake in Amazon that is estimated to be worth about $35.7 billion.
The couple were married for 25 years and have four children together. After a trial separation, the pair decided to divorce and to continue their lives as friends.
Major age differences in a relationship can prove to be difficult as Kate Beckinsale and Pete Davidson proved. Kate, who is 45, got together with Pete, who is 25, in January this year. The pair were later spotted holding hands and kissing at various events. However, the couple reportedly split after dating for only four short months.
Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson had one of the most widely publicised breakups this year with all eyes focused on the reality star.
In 2016, Khloe revealed her relationship with Tristan to the public. At that time, Jordan Craig was still pregnant with Tristan’s first child.
The couple’s relationship continued to progress and in late 2017, it was announced that Khloe was pregnant with Tristan’s baby.
However, with only days to go before Khloe’s due date, videos started to surface showing a girl entering Tristan’s hotel room. This prompted allegations of cheating. However, the couple proved to still be in love and strong with Tristan being present for the birth of his daughter, True.
However, in February this year, TMZ reported that Jordyn Woods, Kylie Jenner’s best friend, had reportedly been seen kissing Tristan. Jordyn has since claimed that she had not slept with the NBA player though tweets from Khloe show that she has not been forgiven.
The cheating scandal reportedly ended the couple’s relationship.
Designated Survivor actress Maggie Q and American Horror Story actor Dylan McDermott have reportedly called off their engagement and have parted ways.
The actors, who were engaged for four years, first started dating in 2014. A couple of months later, the pair got engaged. In fact, Dylan apparently proposed after only seven weeks. Following a large number of work commitments, the couple were unable to settle on a wedding date. However, before they could, they decided to split up.
