“I spent half a decade as a senior beauty editor reviewing spas, and interviewing doctors and perfumers before managing PR for a French house known for its craftsmanship,” says Alli Sim, who also studied aromatherapy massage and became a certified aromatherapist during these years.
But, it was her childhood spent in Australia, where she says she enjoyed going to local farms and farmers’ markets, that first began her life-long love affair with essential oils and natural products. Fast forward to 2018: When friends back in SG started buying her crafted oils, she finally decided to set up Mmerci Encore to create aromatherapy goods for both the body and mind. “Looking back, I see beauty as being the link in everything I’ve ever done!”
Mmerci Encore’s products range from aromatherapy blends made of 100-percent therapeutic-grade essential oils to small-batch, handcrafted perfumes and even a nifty Rose Quartz Facial Massager (tip: Put in the fridge between uses!). Alli’s goal for all of them is simple: to help “support emotional wellbeing as much as they do the physical state”. Find them at pop-ups and select stockists around the city, as well as on its online store.
“Anxiety and adulting can get the best of me, so I pair Mmerci Encore essential oils with restorative yoga to help me slow down, de-stress and come back to the moment,” shares Alli, who also fancies a walk around
Singapore Botanic Gardens if she has the energy to burn. For more indulgent me-times, she treats herself to the Black Soap and Rassoul Hammam ritual at Remède Spa at The St. Regis Singapore. On hot days? She chills with a refreshing Crushed Mint & Lime Soda at PS. Cafe Palais Renaissance.
