Hankering for Spanish fare that’s made with heart? Tucked inside lush Dempsey Hill, Don Quijote is a must for those craving authentic Spanish food.
Helmed by Ken Lim, the team at Don Quijote continuously bring new flavours to the table by travelling to Spain annually with its four chefs to soak in the different tastes, atmospheres and experiences from Spain’s various regions.
There are more than 80 offerings on the menu (One of the island’s biggest!), and its true-blue Spanish offerings let you experience the country’s broad spectrum of tastes and textures on every plate.
Start your meal with hot and cold tapas like the Gambas al Ajillo (stir-fried juicy prawns with crunchy garlic topping, $14), Tortilla de Patatas (omelette stuffed with potatoes, $11) and Calamares Fritos (fried battered squid, $13). Then, tuck into the Paella Valenciana (from $33), the Segovian Cochinillo Al Horno (roasted suckling pig, from $89) or the beefy-licious Chuleton Du Buey (Tomahawk rib-steak, $18 per 100 grammes), carefully grilled over charcoal for a slight hint of smoke infused into the steak. (Both the suckling pig and rib-steak must be pre-ordered at least two days in advance.)
This May, dine on this-month-only specials: Savour Manchego Cheese with Spanish Sweet Peppers ($24), Duck Stew with Extra- Virgin Olive Oil Drizzled Toasted-Bread ($29), “Live’ Lobster Wet Rice ($49), Grilled Harissa Chicken with Grilled Daily Veggies ($18) and ‘Live’ Clams with Chorizo and Chillis ($33).
