Outdoor Cinema In Singapore: Where To Catch Films With Singapore’s Most Beautiful Backdrops

14 June 2017

We hope the buzzword “al fresco” tickles your fancy as much as it does ours – if so, you won’t want to miss CHIJMES’ second iteration of Picnic Under the Stars this July.

Reserve a spot on the lawn for this free outdoor movie event screening the tear-jerking Marley and Me on July 8, 2017.

(P.S. We’ve got an exclusive deal for you! Read on to find out more.)

Forget BYOB (we mean bring your own basket) – pre-order a picnic basket, prepared by Moa Tiki New Zealand Bar & Grill, comprising salad, chopolata chicken sausages, beef sliders, MOA chicken kebabs and red wine for two, plus chips and sparkling water. Oh, and a picnic mat to make yourself comfy with. (U.P. $88, quote ‘The Finder’ to receive it at a special price of $80!)

It’s sure to be a delicious dinner with your loved one – no more thinking where to go for your next date night.

But do BYOP – your pet, we mean. Pre-movie, join pet shelters, including Noah’s Ark and Purely Adoptions, at their mini adoption drive, and browse the fair for pet merchandise stalls, or join one of Singapore’s leading dog trainers, Patrick Wong, for a dog obedience class. The furkids are invited for the movie, too – the picnic basket even includes pet food!

Plus, receive a goody bag worth over $100 with your picnic basket, which includes pet accessories like a bowtie collar, snap-on bowtie, pet food, and a $10 CHIJMES dining voucher.

The event runs from 4-10pm. Still, the fun doesn’t end here – many of the dining establishments in CHIJMES are open till late. Bask in the night breeze at cosy alfresco cafe Privé (open till 1am Friday & Saturday, 12am Sunday – Thursday); you’d wish you were beer – um, here – at Harry’s (open till 2am Friday & Saturday, 1am Sunday – Thursday). Want a post-movie pint? We think you’ll love these bars.

Or, come early for brunch with the fam. Restaurants and cafes here brim with culinary culture from all over Asia and beyond, offering cuisines for every palate. Child-friendly options include casual Mexican joint El Mero Mero, and the Michelin-standard Lei Garden for dim sum. (Browse our favourite picks here!)
