They say New York is the city that never sleeps, but wait till they see what Singapore has to offer when the sun is down.
Nestled in the lush greenery of what was formerly Bottle Tree Park, the 555,000 square feet (that’s about 5 National Stadiums!) leisure park that is ORTO is a 24-hour haven adrenaline seekers, nature lovers, and your little energizer bunnies.
Repeat: it’s open twenty-four hours!
From trampolining to catching your own seafood dinner, here’s what this sprawling wonderland has to offer.
It’s literally called “Fishing Paradise”, so expect no less than a 100 by 100 metre fishing pond. The vast expanse of water makes for quite a scenic sanctuary to kick back and relax, too – until something tugs on your reel. And when you score a catch, opt to release or keep the fish.
Longkang (meaning “drain” in Malay) is no stranger to every Singaporean’s childhood – children in the 60s would exuberantly head to the “longkangs” or natural streams after the rain to catch small fishes with containers or bottles. The pond is only 10-30cm deep and finished with non-slip concrete flooring, so it’s safe for the little ones too.
Like seafood? We hope you do – fish for your own meal with the baits and rods provided. Electric grills are available at the premises to grill the prawns that you have caught at no extra cost.
It’s parrot-dise with the bird enthusiasts at Featherhood SG, when they show off their flying friends and conduct free-fly sessions for macaws. After the session, pose for a photo with the birds at the fun photobooth.
When you’re out of energy, head to Long Jiang Chinos for Singaporeans favourites and modern Chinese dishes. Our favourites: the Live Prawn in Tomato Assam Curry, and the US Jumbo Oyster in Sashimi Style served with green chilli marmalade.
Or have a hearty Thai barbecue buffet at Mookata – you would definitely have worked up enough of an appetite.
For Western grub, try Taste Garden for French, Western, and Local cuisine – chef favourites include Miso Butter Chicken Roulade, Duck Leg Confit, and more.
Quench your thirst at the al fresco Quench! Bistro & Bar with a sneaky pint or two.
