“Everything behind food, which is not known,” says Italian food anthropologist Alessandra Gennaro. “The history of a recipe, the products, and the techniques. These are all ‘ingredients’ that make food great, offering a mesmerising experience to all the sense and to our mind,” she adds.

Discovering these secrets and shining a light on it is what the 2018 edition of World Gourmet Summit (WGS) is all about. Now in its 22nd year, this year’s edition, which runs from April 2-29, 2018, is themed as “The Discovery WGS”, where diners can expect to be taken off the beaten track to experience some of the world’s exciting, lesser-known cuisines, presented by a stellar line up of culinary stars – young, up and coming, and established – representing countries from Asia, Eastern and Central Europe, and America.
