Singaporean-owned VeganBurg was founded in 2010 and is committed to “breaking the stereotype and pushing the envelope of what vegan burgers can look, feel and taste,” says Alex Tan, founder of VeganBurg.
VeganBurg aims to inspire and excite patrons to choose a plant-based burger as a form of sustainable living, so it’s always on the search for ways to freshen things up. “We’ve just given our menu a facelift, refreshing the flavours of our Avocado Beetroot, the Hawaiian Teriyaki and Tangy Tartar burgers and added a brand new nugget side dish, too,” explains Alex.
The brand also regularly introduces “Seasonal Specials” to its menu. Popular ones have included the Chili Krab burger for SG’s National Day 2017, made with a vegan konjac “crab” meat patty and a chili crab sauce made from scratch; the Trufflebello Burg, inspired by classic fall and winter flavours and featuring superfoods for the holidays; and the Thriller Burger, a burger sandwiched between a black charcoal bun and served over a tray of dry ice for Halloween.
From eco-friendly lighting and tables made of upcycled wood pallets to compostable takeaway cutlery, GMO-free patties and locally sourced artisan buns, VeganBurg “enjoys enticing our customers’ palates with fun and innovative sustainable fast food,” says Alex. And, it’s no surprise that the brand has become popular with vegans and non-vegans alike. “After all, we can’t change the fast-food industry, but we can certainly change what goes into it!” he adds.
There’s no stopping this burger joint, either. In addition to launching a catering service, they’ve established an outlet in San Francisco, too. Why there? “We couldn’t reignite the iconic ‘60s revolution of peace, love, equality and freedom anywhere else!” explains Alex.
