Go easy on yourself

 

Work, family, travel or living abroad can cause external stress, but the impact we experience from within is usually greater. Have you ever felt down and beaten yourself up because you weren’t handling things as you should? Such internal stress can negatively affect different aspects of your life. To get out of a self-berating cycle:

  1. Be gentle with yourself. While we like to have all “good” days, emotional “rain” can also helps flowers to grow.

  2. Realise your emotions are searching for action – anger for justice, fear for safety and/or security, sadness for return, frustration for doing something different. Emotions can be constructive signposts for making positive shifts.

  3. Often, our “shoulds” are inherited from our family, culture and society. Sometimes, they may be wrong, old-fashioned or irrelevant – so step back and revise your expectations. www.greymatternetwork.com
