Preventing muscle wear & tear

Your muscles are more prone to tear due to:

  • Aging
  • Lack of hydration and electrolytes
  • Lack of warming up before exercising
  • Fatigue which reduces muscle strength and endurance

Prevent it:

  • Do a 10-minute dynamic warm up - not static stretching - and cardiovascular exercises to get your muscles fired up and blood pumping before you start your workout.
  • Ensure you're adequately hydrated and consume electrolyte replacement drinks while exercising.
  • Do resistance strength training to build your muscles' endurance. Focus on muscle groups relating to your sport such as the calves, quadriceps, glutes and hamstrings.
