All in the Family Counselling: rediscover your sense
of self with Play Therapy
Take time out to rediscover your sense of self.
Human beings, both children and adults, crave novelty and new experiences. We're always seeking something new and one way to experience this is to engage in a play activity - found in all cultures and at all ages.
When a child engages in free play it actually helps form connections in their brain to facilitate language, social and emotional development. Free play also assists a child to develop advanced problem-solving skills. Kids' language abilities lag behind their cognitive abilities, so play is essential in order for them to learn how to process their lives and their emotions. As little as 30 minutes of free play each day is beneficial. Adults can also benefit from play, it can be a way to gain a new view on an existing problem.
All in the Family Counselling uses Play Therapy - an evidenced-based therapy which utilises existing counselling theories such as Gestalt, Person Centred and Cognitive Behavioural - to assist both children and adults.
