Why hydration is so important
Are you drinking enough water?
Water constitutes almost 60 percent of our body weight, so being properly hydrated ensures your hormones, liver and metabolism all work at optimum levels. Adequate hydration ensures body fat is used for energy and the delivery of nutrients is improved, as is the body's natural elimination of toxins. Don't let dehydration be an obstacle to good health!
If you're exercising, you need to drink even more water. For example, exercising with a Power Plate® machine activates more than 90 percent of your muscle fibres, at a rate of 30 to 40 times per second. So staying well-hydrated while enjoying a high-intensity workout of any kind is vital. Always drink:
1. 500 millilitres of water two hours before you exercise.
2. 600 to 900 millilitres of water for every hour you exercise.
3. Three litres of water every day, in a humid climate.
