How to reconnect with you

"Start each year by establishing a personal goal - it helps you focus and improve on a specific area and gives you more satisfaction when you realise you're making progress and are more in control of your life. Meet your goal by being clear about what you want to achieve and how you want to achieve it and reward your achievements. Don't expect perfection with your goal. What's most important is you're back on track and moving in the right direction." Debbie Hogan Growth Resources Counseling & Coaching (www.sf-academy.com)
"It's common to neglect your relationship with yourself, so work hard to focus and understand you. This will help you achieve emotional, mental and physical wellbeing." Sheryl Bathman Lifesteps Counselling (www.lifesteps.com.sg)
"Be as optimistic as you can when faced with difficult situations. Deal with obstacles by figuring out solutions to the problem, taking necessary action and getting both personal and professional support." Cate Hey SACAC Counselling (www.sacac.sg)
"Invest in yourself. Put in the time, effort and resources to ensure you're as healthy as you can be emotionally and mentally. You need to start with yourself before you can support your loved ones." Ho Shee Wai The Counselling Place (www.thecounsellingplace.com

Try these tips for more "me" time

  • Limit your social commitments to ensure you have enough time to relax and can truly enjoy the interaction you do have with friends.
  • Focus on the things you like doing: reading, watching a movie, listening to live music, cooking, handicrafts, travelling or learning a new skill.
  • Allocate enough time for tasks to avoid rushing and a sense of "failure".
  • Surround yourself with positive people and limit contact with those toxic to your mental health.
  • Take five minutes each day to reflect on 10 things you're grateful for - a sure-fire
way to feel blessed and happy!
