Tips for an allergy-free bedroom

  1. Stay away from down, kapok and feather duvets and pillows, as they may irritate your respiratory tract and trigger an attack. Silk naturally repel dust mites, so opt for silk-filled bedding.

  2. Cover pillows and mattresses in protectors to prevent dust mites from nesting.

  3. Wash bed linen in hot water once a week.

  4. Clean your bedroom once a week. Vacuum rather than sweep and follow by mopping. Wear a mask when removing dust and always dust with a damp cloth.

  5. Opt for bare floors instead of carpet. Carpet is an excellent nesting ground for dust mites.

  6. Install curtains that can be washed regularly, rather than blinds. If you have blinds, vacuum them weekly.

  7. Avoid clutter by storing things away. The less you have, the less “dust-catchers” you have.
