Hypnosis explained
Hypnosis is a normal and focused state of consciousness. It’s sometimes referred to as a trance state and can also be defined as concentrated and directed daydreaming.
Many times the word “sleep” is used, but the person in hypnosis is far from being asleep. When you’re in hypnosis you’re very aware of your surroundings and will know and remember everything that happens. In fact your sub-conscious mind is so focused, anything important and beneficial mentioned – and acceptable to you – will be acted upon.
A person in hypnosis does not lose control – or say or do things they do not wish to do. And they will not accept any idea or suggestion against their religion, upbringing and moral code, or against their "gain".
All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. Each person achieves his or her own hypnotic depth state. The hypnotherapist is a guide, just as a conductor guides an orchestra. Although the conductor can guide the musicians, they cannot physically make someone play an instrument if they cannot, or will not, play it.

Hypnosis is all about gaining control – not losing it. When we act out of habit, or because of concepts based on erroneous beliefs or misperceptions, we become victims of past programming. Hypnosis accesses the subconscious mind retaining all our experiences and allows us to shift any patterns no longer working. It encourages us to thrive from the inside out! Grey Matter Network
Common hypnosis myths
A hypnotherapist lulls you to sleep The conscious mind is completely relaxed and rested, but not asleep. This “hypnogogic” state is the most ideal situation to bring positive changes to your life.
Hypnotism is dangerous It can be dangerous if it’s practiced by amateurs. However, when used properly by an experienced practitioner the treatment is perfectly safe.
You’ll be under the hypnotist’s control You’re fully aware and in control of yourself during treatment. Nobody can be hypnotised against their will, as hypnosis is a cooperative process. If you do not wish to act on any idea or suggestion, you can simply dismiss the suggestion.
The hypnotherapist can find out your secrets You’ll never accidentally reveal what you don’t wish to. If you do reveal something personal, it’s because you have revealed a “secret of the heart” of your own volition.
You can be hypnotised without your consent Successful hypnosis depends on your willingness to experience it. Even with voluntary participation, not everyone can be led into a hypnotic state. Hypnae Center
