Find the right dentist for you

Singapore is blessed with a well-regulated dental industry, so you can't go too far wrong when choosing a dentist. But sometimes, finding the right dentist for you can be a frustrating process. Dr Andrew Lui offers some tips for narrowing down your search:

• Ask around. Nothing beats a word-of-mouth recommendation or reviews from friends and family.
• Understand the dentist's treatment philosophy - which can range from being proactive or more passive, in regards to treatment. Neither is right nor wrong. Just make sure the style your chosen dentist uses sits comfortably with you.
• Always ask your dentist to present and outline the pros and cons of every treatment option available to you. Dentistry is often invasive and if you don't understand the maintenance issues involved with a recommended treatment, you may find your choice proves costly - in both time and money - in the future.
