Making a house a home

Whether it's your first or 10th time moving to a new house, the urge to create a warm comfortable home is instinctive and helps shake off the stress and anxiety of moving, allowing you to settle in quickly and start enjoying your new environment. To create a "lived in" look:

  • Declutter - only keep things that are either useful or beautiful.
  • Set up each room in a way which allows you to maximise its purpose with ease.
  • Have a place for everything and keep everything in its place.
  • Allocate baskets and trays to store projects, so you know where to find them and keep them once you're finished.
  • Allow space for sentimental items - visual history is important.
  • If any existing furnishings don't suit Singapore's tropical climate you can achieve a "lighter" look by changing cushions and brightening up rooms with a touch of colour or additional lighting.
