How to create the perfect nursery
For a new mum and baby, a well-planned nursery is a sanity saviour and welcome retreat. Decorate it to reflect you and your baby - to help both of you feel at home, creating a familiar, comfortable and cosy environment to support your new bond.
- Choose furniture to suit your style Choose a style to best represent you - minimalistic, contemporary, rustic or grand and opulent.
- Be realistic with space Cramping bulky furniture into a small room will make the space look messy and even smaller, and leave you feeling stressed and claustrophobic. The only items which are necessary are a changing table, crib or cot, chest of drawers and a comfortable chair for feeding.
- Use soft lighting Table lamps create the perfect glow for feeding and sleeping.
- Use patterned materials wisely Too many patterns in a small area can have a dizzying effect, whereas large patterns in a large space will help make the room look smaller, creating a cosier and more intimate space.
- Display memories Photos of you and your child in various sizes and frames creates a casual, homely feel at little expense.
