SINGAPORE STAYCATION: Changi Sailing Club

WHERE Changi Sailing Club is Singapore's secret hideaway, nestled deep in the north-eastern rim, at the water's edge beneath coconut trees. The Club was opened in 1936 as the Changi Garrison Yacht Club by a group of British soldiers and still retains a historic charm.

WHY STAY All facilities are exclusive to members and their guests, so you do have to join or find a friend who's a member. Apart from full sailing facilities, the club is also equipped with a 20-metre swimming pool, children's wading pool and Jacuzzi, food and beverage outlets offering both Western and Eastern cuisine, an air-conditioned library and a rest area.
But it's the Club's private, beachfront location - overlooking Pulau Ubin - which renders it truly unique. Eight chalet rooms can be booked as weekend retreats and you can self-cater at one of three barbecue pits, or dine alfresco at the restaurant. Accommodation is basic, but definitely seaside.
Changi Sailing Club is the only sailing club in Singapore where dinghies, catamarans and keelboats co-exist. Take advantage of their wide range of sailing facilities and register for a sailing event or course.

DAMAGE Members $60 and member's guest $90, per night.
