Backache breathers
- Start your day with five minutes of light stretching, followed by drinking one litre of plain water within the first hour of waking.
- During the day, take micro- and macro-breaks. If you're sitting, stand for a few seconds every half hour. For every hour of sitting, take a five-minute break by standing, walking and completing light stretches.
- If you sit at a computer, maintain a comfortable position with good posture.
- o Your lower arms should be parallel to your desk, with your elbows a little lower.
- o A monitor should always be at eye level and square in front of you.
- o Adjust your chair height so you can sit with your feet flat to the floor - if you can't adjust your chair or desk, use a footstool.
- Drink six to 10 glasses of water throughout the day.
