Lose fat and get fit by raising your metabolism!

  • Circuit training gets you into an anaerobic zone - forcing your body into oxygen debt. Your metabolism is then elevated after your workout, as your body processes waste (lactic acid) and recovers.
  • Progressively raise your fitness level by incorporating vigorous bursts to increase your oxygen consumption and body temperature for more than a few minutes at a time.
  • Up your resistance training to increase muscle mass. Muscles burn more calories than fat and require more oxygen after a workout. Try weight training and resistance exercises at slow speeds.
  • Go wholemeal. Unrefined - or "whole" foods - are harder for the body to break down, so more energy and calories are used by your body to convert such foods into simpler substances. By removing refined foods from your diet your energy levels will remain constant throughout the day and your body will rid itself of waste far more effectively.
  • Have more meals each day, of smaller portion sizes. This will help you burn more energy and calories during the process of digestion.
  • Increase your protein intake. Converting protein into energy is a complex chemical conversion - that burns calories!
  • Eat smart! While animals are driven by instinct humans are driven by intelligence. So rather than following the herd, make smart choices which work for you and avoid associating feelings or a sense of reward with food.
