Stay Nikoi is island living at its most private, with just six two-storey beach houses currently available and eight more to be built in the future. Each residence is just metres away from the sea, offers ocean views and is generously spaced out within a five-hectare site. You have the option of reserving all beach houses for a family or group retreat, or just one if you're seeking privacy for an intimate rendezvous. All are crafted from driftwood, topped with an alang alang grass roof and range in size from one to three bedrooms - with an additional smaller room for maids or extra guests in the two bedroom configuration. Focusing on barefoot luxury, each beach house has an open sand-floored lounge area, complete with day beds, iPod speakers, a well-stocked bar and an icebox. King-sized four poster beds are draped in white cotton sheets and romantic mosquito nets, while ensuite bathrooms feature contemporary fittings and piping hot water.
Eat The set menu places emphasis on fresh ingredients and simple cooking and changes daily - according to seasonal produce. Expect barbecued seafood, local dishes and tropical fruits, plus a reasonably-priced selection of beer, wine, spirits and soft drinks.
Fun Chill out at the relaxed beach bar or head to the upstairs bar to enjoy a cocktail while you watch the sun set over the ocean. Rig up one of the four sailing boats, snorkel the pristine reef or go rock-climbing. Relax with a good book on your private daybed, book a massage or explore the remaining 10 hectares of Nikoi - reserved as natural habitat for the island's natural flora and fauna.
Rates $300 for one-bedroom beach house, $500 for two-bedroom beach house, $700 for three-bedroom beach house. Meals are $80 per day for adults and $40 for children over four years of age - kids below four years dine free.
