Fuel fixes
Try these simple tips to save gallons on gas:
Observe the speed limit. Driving aggressively means you're often forced to accelerate and brake rapidly, decreasing fuel economy by up to 33 percent. Maintain a consistent speed to avoid your engine gulping gas and help keep your cool.
Steer clear of the stop/start fuel guzzling by avoiding rush hour traffic when possible.
Plan ahead. Run as many errands as you can at one time in a logical journey to avoid unnecessary outings.
Service your car regularly and ensure tyre pressure is at the correct level to avoid any "drag" on your engine and excessive fuel consumption.
Car pool with colleagues or friends when possible to reduce carbon emissions and save money.
"Dejunk" your trunk. Carrying an excessive load burns fuel faster, clean your boot out as often as possible and avoid overloading your car with passengers.
Consider purchasing a hybrid car. They are slightly more expensive, but you'll save on fuel costs in the long term, receive tax breaks and enjoy a clean and green conscience. Currently, there are four fuel/electric hybrid models available in the Lion City: Honda Civic (http://www.honda.com.sg/), Toyota Prius (http://www.toyotasingapore.com.sg/) and Lexus RX 400h and LS 600h L (http://www.lexus.com.sg/). Plus the Mercedes-Benz E 200 NGT (http://www.mercedes-benz.com.sg/) which runs on both fuel and natural gas.
