MENU As a precursor to what was to be a great meal, we decided on Argentinean Empanadas, a selection of light, mouth-watering pastries. From the wide selection we chose Carne (beef and capsicum), Cordero (lamb and tomato) and Jamón y Queso (ham and cheese). Vegetarian selections are also baked fresh. We followed with the delicious Mejillones al Vino Blanco (black mussels) submerged in a light sauce of white wine, garlic and cream served with a selection of freshly baked breads.
For our mains we couldn't go past the Argentine rib eye steak served with roasted baby tomatoes and potatoes. The succulent, juicy and tender cut of meat was nothing short of spectacular. Customary and almost obligatory in the eyes of our South American chef, we ended the meal with Salta's signature Argentine dessert Panqueque - a thin crepe filled with a not-so-sweet caramel sauce and ice cream.
